BIOGRAPHY

Currently, her work is represented in the Art at Work program at the Museum of Arts and Culture, Spokane.

This past summer her work was included in the group exhibit, "People, Places, and Perceptions, Contemporary Latino Art in the Northwest", at the Maryhill Museum, in Goldendale, Washington, from July 16 – November 15th, 2005.

Also in the summer of 2005, she began "North Country Artist Trails" an open artists’ studio tour in NE Washington. She organized 14 artists’ galleries and studios, designed the brochure and web site, www.northcountryartisttrails.com. She solicited funding from Stevens County and the city of Colville and was successful in procuring over $3,000. for the project. It has proved to be a great success and will continue next summer.

Her artwork is in private collections in Bermuda, Canada, England and the U.S.

She has exhibited her work in Chicago, Colorado, Bermuda, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York State.

Her career began in Bermuda, where she worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for the local newspaper. From there, she worked in advertising agencies and publishing houses in Chicago and Santa Monica, CA, and ran her own graphic design and advertising studio in Falls Village, Connecticut. While in Chicago, she served as a judge for Montgomery Ward’s employee art exhibit. She was the curator for "Brave New Pixels", an annual computer-generated art show exhibited under the auspices of the Association for Computing Machinery, Special Interest Group in Computer Graphics, (ACM SIGGRAPH) the oldest international computer organization. While living in London, England she was employed as a graphic designer for a large pharmaceutical concern. Her career came full circle when she moved to Los Angeles and began working in special effects for the entertainment industry. Her filmography includes: "Titanic", "Hollowman", "Star Trek: Insurrection" and the "Mists of Avalon", which debuted on the TNT network in July, 2002.

Her parallel career as an arts instructor includes employment with The American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois and UCLA extension where she taught in the Film and Entertainment Dept.

Currently, she teaches art & drama at The Orient Elementary School in Orient, WA through a WSAC grant. She served as the volunteer Program and Marketing Director for Colville Arts Foundation 2002-present. She eventually ran Colville Arts Foundation as the director, from 2002-2005. Colville Arts Foundation is a 501 {c} 3 publicly supported non-profit organization.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

A professional graphic designer and photographer, Gloria runs her studio, Studio 5 : Design, a company specializing in branding, marketing, and identity systems. With her all-electronic studio Gloria has over twenty years experience in graphic design. She has worked on major accounts such as Honda, Aetna Health Care Systems, and others. She has experience in the entertainment industry, having worked as a digital artist for films such as: "Titanic", "The X-Files Movie", and "Inspector Gadget". Conversant in FrontPage web design, Microsoft Office Products, QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. Full Service advertising agency, media placement and consultation.

Specialties:

Identity systems, Marketing, Public Relations, including press releases and copywriting, Advertising to "RIP" ready for printing.

EMPLOYMENT

Artist/Mentor and Project Coordinator, Orient/Inchelium/Valley Arts Consortium
Coordinates performers and artists for Orient Elementary School and also teaches are to K-8 Orient Elementary School students under auspices of WSAC grant. Responsibilities include booking performers, administering grant monies, budgeting and teaching.

Taught drawing, painting, and photography classes. Fourth grade through high school. Spokane Art School, Spokane, Washington.

Taught alternative photography, (cyanotypes) art and drama through WSAC grant. First through eighth grades.

Writer
Writer of the column "Art Beat" for The North Columbia Monthly. Distributed throughout Stevens,
Ferry and Spokane counties and B.C., Canada. August 2002 – present. Freelance position.

Program and Marketing Director, advancing to Managing Director
Developed workshops and fund-raisers for local non-profit arts organization. Ad placement, consulting, copy-writing and budgeting. Produced advertisements for local print and radio media. Developed and maintained foundation’s web site. Grant writing. Instrumental in procuring $2500.00 Hotel/Motel tax funds specified for advertising and marketing from the City of Colville to promote cultural tourism for three consecutive years.

AWARDS

Awarded OAIC (Orient/Inchelium Arts Consortium) Grant. Taught grades 1-8 art and drama, 2002-2006.
